The club was founded in 1901, as of the American League's eight charter franchises. They were a dominant team in the new league, defeating the Pittsburgh Pirates in the first World Series in 1903. They won four more championships by 1918, and then went into one of the longest championship droughts in baseball history, which ended in 2004, when the team won their sixth World Series Championship. Since 2003, the Red Sox have competed in four ALCS, have won two World Series, and have emerged as arguably the most successful MLB team of the last decade.
The Red Sox led all MLB teams in average road attendance in 2007, while the small capacity of Fenway Park caused them to rank 11th in home attendance. Every home game since May 15, 2003 has been sold out, a span of over five years and an MLB record.
Boston Logan International Airport is located four miles north-east of the city centre. The MBTA Blue Line serves Logan Airport Station. Trains operate from 05.30 hours with services every 4-11 minutes. From the airport station take the free shuttle buses to the terminals. At the moment the train fare is $1.25 and the shuttle free. The MBTA Silver Line is a rapid transit bus service linking many downtown areas with the airport. A taxi journey of around 20-30 minutes will cost between $20 and $40.

Downtown to Gillette Stadium The MBTA runs service to and from all New England Patriots home games. Tickets are $12 for the round trip and may be purchased for cash only. No other Commuter Rail tickets or passes may be used. Coolers and backpacks will not be allowed on the trains. No personal possessions may be left on the trains. Trains will depart Foxboro 30 minutes after the conclusion of the game. Downtown to TD Banknorth Garden The TD Banknorth Garden is located in Boston's Downtown North section on Causeway Street, minutes from the historic North End and Faneuil Hall. Ticketed patrons should enter the TD Banknorth Garden through the North Station terminal, on Nashua Street or on Legends Way.
Green & Orange Lines Take either line to the North Station stop. Enter the TD Banknorth Garden at either the East or West entrance.
Red Line Take the Red Line to the Park Street stop and switch to Green Line Eastbound (3 stops) to the North Station stop. Enter the TD Banknorth Garden at either the East or West entrance.

Freedom Trail Foundation The Freedom Trail Foundation is the OFFICIAL non-profit organization that promotes and supports Boston's Freedom Trail, a 2.5 mile historic walking trail.
