Lazio were originally founded in 1900 as Societa Sportiva Lazio and based in the Italian city of Rome. Lazio are one of the most prominent clubs involved in Italian football and have enjoyed domestic and european success throughout their history.
Lazio play in sky blue shirts with white shorts, have won Serie A twice, first in 1973–74 and then again in 1999–00. As well as winning four Coppa Italia trophies, Lazio have earned silverware on the European stage, winning the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup and UEFA Super Cup both in 1999.
The club has spent most of their history in the top tier in Italian football. In the 2007/2008 season Lazio struggled to beat Dinamo Bucharest in the qualifying round of the Champions League and eventually finished a very disappointing bottom of their group that was composed of Real Madrid, Werder Bremen and Olympiacos. The Roman giants pride was dented though their performances since have dramatically improved.

ROME AND PUBLIC TRANSPORT
The Metro system has only two lines, A and B, which cross at Termini. You'll find that the Metro bypasses much of the historical centre, which can be frustrating when you're trying to reach the famous sights and characteristic neighbourhoods. The reason for this is that there is still so much of ancient Rome beneath the modern city that they can't dig a tunnel for the trains without running into 2,000 year-old brick walls, mosaic pavements, and marble columns! You can see some evidence of this in the Repubblica and Termini stations. Trains run approximately every 7-10 minutes, from 5:30am until 11:30pm every day (until 12:30am on Saturdays). Licensed taxis are white or yellow, have a name, an identification number and are equipped with a taxi-meter. Do not trust people who approach you offering private taxi service, in most cases they are illegal and will heavily overcharge There are hundreds of bus lines, running from 5:30am until midnight. All buses run in both directions.
